Bio
The songs of mine that you can stream or download from this site's audio channel are among the tracks I'm collaborating on with new music partner Steve Erickson.
I was born in August 1951 in NYC, lived for 7 years in Europe, and also in the Midwest, the Deep South, most recently Southern California, and back East to Washington DC in Sept 2008. I'm finding new venues and music partners in Washington: I have joined the Songwriters' Association of Washington (SAW) and Focus Music, and have been invited to perform in singer-songwriter showcases at Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA; The New Deal Cafe in Greeenbelt, MD; Bangkok Blues in Falls Church, VA; Ebenezer's Coffee House in Washington, DC; Brewer's Alley, Frederick, MD; The Blue Banana in Washington DC, and on the SAW stage at the annual Artomatic show in Washington DC.
I have been noodling around with acoustic guitars since the early 70s. But other than a brief flurry of performing activity and songwriting in North Carolina in the mid 70s, I didn't start writing and/or performing music seriously until I was in my 50s. Until my move to DC in 2008 and my more recent encounter with Steve, my former musical collaborator in Los Angeles guitarist-vocalist Marck Smith and I performed original songs regularly in the LA area for several years: we appeared at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena, the Ice House in Pasadena, Cafe Mundial in Monrovia (a regular monthly gig for 3 years), and the much-lamented former Dr. Music in Glendale. I also appeared solo at Dr. Music, as well as at open mikes at Kulak's Woodshed in Valley Village, Garret Swayne's weekly Songwriter's Workshop at Cafe Bellissimo in Sherman Oaks, UnUrban in Santa Monica, and Portfolio in Long Beach.
