Being Nettie Smith has been a struggle. Everyday hardships seemed to fall hard on her than most and there was only one way she dealt with the weight of it all - MTV's TRL. Nettie used to rush home from school to watch the now cancelled show and studied everything she saw. Till this day, she can recall useless facts about forgotten artists/bands and it has shaped her music. Once Nettie began to sing at the age of 7, there was no stopping her. She would practice everyday for hours on end, perfecting her voice and learning how to make it better. Endless auditions and talent competitions later, Nettie Smith has found her unique voice and has moved to New York City to give it a chance.
How great was it to find her band so close to her, one being her next door neighbor? The first time they played together, they all stopped and looked around the room as everyone tried to catch their breath. That should be the goal when putting a band together and Nettie and the rest of her band-mates discovered it. What was previously looped tracks on GarageBand, was now live music originals that are great enough to compete with artists that are signed but more unique than anyone has ever heard.
There is only one word for the magic that binds these musicians together and unfortunately it is the most scientific of them all - chemistry. But whatever you call it, everyone should be aiming to get a little bit of what Nettie Smith has.
