Bio
Nate of Earth is the current name for the latest project from Alternative Folk/Rock Singer-Songwriter Nate Waldes. Currently in his 20's Nate is already a veteran of the Southern Ontario music scene. The former lead singer of Hamilton Rock band "Dead End Sessions" Nate has returned to his acoustic roots, and in September of 2015 he released his debut EP as a solo act, “First Contact”.
The music of Nate of Earth is heavily influenced by a combination of the folk singer-songwriter movement in the late 1950's-1960's, and the Alternative Rock music of the early 90's. Taking inspiration from artists like Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Beck, the vast expansion of Nate's musical taste is reflected in his original songs. Using a combination of traditional and ethereal sounds, Nate employs acoustic instruments such as the guitar, ukulele and djembe to texture his music with an honest intimacy that invites the listener into his mind and soul.
Nate has performed on CH Morning Live, and at many local music festivals, received airplay on Y108 and CFMU, worked alongside Ontario music legends Ray Lyell and Rob Lamothe, and was selected to play in Georgian Bay Folk Society's youth showcase twice. Upon the release of his EP, Nate quickly found his way into the top 5 in the local charts on ReverbNation.com. The EP also attracted the attention and praise of local media outlets. In September 2016, Nate teamed up with The Studios at SRI in Dunnville, ON and recorded the tracks for his second EP :Songs from the Futon" to be released winter 2016.

“A Blind Melon, John Mayer amalgam with some Neil Young harmonic textures and jam band djembe jolts.” - View
“Vision and delivery in one tight package, the wood toned roots Waldes displays are earnest and hard won.” “Full of great hooks and reason, his music transcends the bedroom folk rock genre it serves so well with every bitter-sweet note.” - Barber Shop Podcast
