Every day, Paul Lester is out there working nine to five, finding new sounds for you. Today, he discovers a crackpot from Leeds who has written the finest tune to rail against the daily grind since, well, 9 To 5 - The Guardian
A one-man pop machine and his reel to reel, Napoleon sometimes conducts his live experiments in surround sound. - RCRD LBL
I have to say when it comes to my own musical tastes, I don’t really blend with softer more marketable pop or indie sentiments; and the recent influx of dance and electronica doesn’t really wash with me. However I find with Napoleon a nice moment of sanity, it’s the mix of traditional pop sentiments with experimental/classical sounds and heavy guitars which make the sound of Napoleon IIIrd unique and more interesting than alot of the ‘off the shelf’ electro pop, and makes my overall anticipation of his new album all the more expectant. - Faux Magazine
Napoleon IIIrd will release a new record on November 8. Hoorah! It's called Christiania and will come out through Brainlove Records. Christiania refers to the area of Copenhagen which is a commune for lots of pleasant things and is allowed some kind of autonomy. Read up on it, it's quite interesting. It will - we hope - be seven shades of brilliant. - Drowned In Sound

Napoleon IIIrd (http://www.facebook.com/napoleonthethird) is James Mabbett, an English musician of singular vision.
His debut album "In Debt To:" established Napoleon IIIrd in the UK's resurgent indie scene, coming as part of a wave of Leeds alumni that included The Cribs, The Research, Kaiser Chiefs and ¡Forward, Russia!, and winning him the support on the sold out Wild Beasts "Two Dancers" tour.
The ambitious, much-anticipated follow up "Christiania" launched Napoleon IIIrd into the popular consciousness in 2010, with four and five star reviews from the NME, Sunday Times, Observer, Independent, Q, Clash, Stool Pigeon, The Fly and many others.
Since then, Napoleon IIIrd has become a fixture on the UK and European festival scene with a live backing band that can contain anything from two to ten members. He's taken the Christiania show to Iceland Airwaves, Club NME, Popkomm Live, Tanned Tin, Leeds Festival, Green Man, End Of The Road and Huw Stephens Presents. He has toured the UK widely, as well as Spain and Scandinavia, in recent years. He is currently writing his third album, to be released in 2012 on his UK label Brainlove Records.
