Ms. AJ born as April Jones in Birmingham, AL the youngest of three girls Her mother and two sisters both sang, but Ms. AJ was given a talent a bit different from them. Ms. AJ began singing in the church choir. Later, she then began singing with W.J. Nichols Gospel Ensemble located in Adamsville, AL. As time progressed she began singing in local talent shows, youth fairs, chorus competitions and stage plays. After completing her undergraduate degree in 2000 she moved to Atlanta, GA.She has lent her voice to local Atlanta artists such as Xavier Lewis, Hudson on Bass, Produx, JamPoet, Crushed Ice, Chuck and Lolita Colby and her home church New Covenant Christian Ministries. Ms. AJ has also opened for Eric Roberson a HB Entertainment event and Lalah Hathaway a ChattanoogaSoul event both in Chattanooga Tennessee.
She has been a featured artist at events such as Gospel According to Jazz, The Mighty Experience at Apache Café, Jalik’s Sumthing Spectacluar at Kats Café, PlatinumSoul by Platinummics.com, main stage at Bronner Brothers Hair show in August 2010 and in the VIP Suites in August 2010, February 2011 and February 2012. She desires to have a great presence in the Neo-soul and R&B genre. Her first single “Brand New Lady “ was released in the Spring of 2010. In June of 2010 her debut single “Brand New Lady” was ranked number 25 in the Andre Harrell’s Next R&B Superstar regional competition. Ms. AJ’s first three singles of her debut album Brand New Lady is featured on Itunes. The central theme of her music is consistent with the artistic works of Layla Hathaway and Jill Scott. Ms. AJ’s values shine through her music in words of encouragement, empowerment, and love.
