Ed Holden, aka Mr Phormula is a familiar face to many on the North Wales music scene. This prolific artist regularly features on programmes on Radio 1 Wales and S4C. He's worked with a huge number of massively successful bands - Y Diwygiad, Speculum and the recently disbanded Genod Droog to name a few. Mr Phormula is out of what Lews Tewns says is/was one of the best Welsh language bands ever – Pep Le Pew (better than Crys? Can’t be!). Hey look, most of this is in English, all of this is cool, excellent lyrics that will have you paying total attention – tales from Wales and Cymraeg is so right for rhyming and ducking and diving, bake beans and bullets. Welsh beat-boxer, rapper and producer Ed Holden aka Mr Phormula, is an unstoppable force on the hip-hop scene. Repeated TV appearances and consistent airplay on BBC Radio 1, Radio Cymru and Radio Wales, are the direct result of Mr Phormula`s slick production, compelling bass lines and unbelievable, bilingual, verbal dexterity. Already renowned for his work with bands Y Diwygiad, Speculum, Genod Droog, Pen-Ta-Gram, Mr Phormula is now pushing the boundaries even further with his stunning solo sets.
These live shows are built entirely with just the artists mouth and is the result of a life dedicated to producing sound. In addition, the recent acquisition of a box full of goodies has given Mr Phormula the freedom to wow crowds from Cardiff to Leeds to Manchester with his solo vocal Dj sets, and this year he`s building on previous strong performances in LA, New York, Spain, Italy and France to continue to astound new audiences across the globe. Expect to see his forthcoming debut album drop in june 2011.
