Every now and then, DiPiazza's features an artist that dazzles. Mr. Crumb, a.k.a. Christopher Caplan, is one of those whose talents blend eclectic groups of song genres, presenting them with cohesive charm. His core style is a gypsy, jazzy-acoustic swing augmented by indie instrumentation. Dig the use of xylophones and tinny pianos that complement Caplan's raspy, semi-woeful howl - OC Weekly
Though there are lots of good bands on this bill, part of a summer series, we want to talk about Mr. Crumb. This indie/folk artist is remarkably capable of using melancholy and angst to subtly pay homage to such icons as Elliott Smith and Modest Mouse without blatantly ripping them off. Mr. Crumb's music features a unique core of musicality and revolves around a grouping of unusual, bendy-guitar leads combined with unexpected found instruments and psychedelic pedal effects. - Oc Weekly
