”A lot of this is as catchy as it is uncompromisingly artistic, and I can without trouble hear ”Ages Ago” scream out its love and anger from the top of the world's charts. All of them.” - Lennart Persson, Sonic, Grade 9/10 - Sonic

MONTYS LOCO
You can't pretend that Montys Loco is a band rooted in punk, honest singer-songwriting, that they'd be garage rock, Patti Smith or the soul children of Bob Dylan or how should I bloody know, something silly like that. Montys Loco is since 1995. One half writes lyrics and music and one half writes music and produces.
In May of 2007 Montys Loco traveled to Namibia and the village of Ondangwa and came back with songs and re-invented heads. Why and how is the story of Farewell Mr Happy.
Marie, producer of the album, kept mumbling about Suicide and Os Mutantes before the departure to Namibia. During a late night sometime in spring i texted "Talking Heads?" to her. I never got a reply and that was probably for the better; why begin to believe, think and predict if you don't know? Anja wrote the lyrics and the music in the Namibian desert, a house in the Stockholm archipelago and an apartment in Årsta. The recording took place in Namibia, Malmö and at the Decibel Studios in Stockholm together with Lasse Mårtén, who sometimes rides his bike around Montysland, tending to the gardens.
The music pounds and pounds until I've understood it all; this is about me and everyone else. We can all hit someone without it being noticed, but how long can you take it? The emotion is big and I want to share Montys Loco with everyone; the voice, the sounds, the inspiration.
FAREWELL MR. HAPPY
Farewell Mr Happy is not cautious, does not want to be careful to not fit in. Farewell Mr Happy is created by two people who do not run on empty, two people who at the same time are both victims and perpetrators, who believe that the feeling of guilt that arises when you realize that you have been living your whole life as an accomplice can lead to change instead of destruction.
The central thematic question that Farewell Mr Happy asks is how one can disrupt a power structure when it is the only thing you know? Why must some groups and individuals watch out and adjust more than others? Can games and experiments be subversive and slowly disturb the balance, the power?
Montys Loco says - Don't cry, play.
