Bio
Mojo City was formed in early 2009 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Previously, singer/songwriter Alex M. Fattore had been playing his songs acoustically in coffee shops and open mics, but he soon realized the need for a live band to make the songs really come alive. He gathered a few friends together once a week in his small apartment and they started learning some songs from his extensive library of gems. The first several months of the band’s existence were spent learning the songs and mastering them as a band. As the year 2009 unfolded, the band lost a few members and gained a few more to create the current lineup, which now practices out of York, PA, and consists of Bryan Fauth on lead electric guitar, Alex M. Fattore on lead vocals and acoustic/rhythm guitar, Justin M. Wolfe on bass guitar, Travis Jackson on MC/Rap, and Luke Barnhart on drums. The combined efforts of everyone in the band resulted in an amazing live sound that draws listening ears wherever they play. Mojo City played their first live gig in early August 2009, and has continued to build their live performance and fan base since then. They finished their first 4 song demo in June 2010. The band’s music is a unique blend of rock, blues, soul, reggae, and hip-hop that boasts refreshingly honest lyrics backdropped by driving rhythms and intricate solos. “Many of these songs are very personal to me because they were written during times of pain, searching, and turmoil” says chief songwriter Alex Fattore. The addition of Travis’s rap style adds an entertaining aspect to the band that sets them apart from other acts in their genre. In the future, the songwriting may be more diverse as it draws on the collaboration of all the band members. Mojo City describes themselves as “original rock and soul” and listeners can certainly detect their influences of The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Stevie Wonder, Sublime, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, to name a few.
