The electropop of Mnemonic Sounds skitters and chatters in a language of glossy, round bubbles of synth from Peter Suk, paired with the cheerfully tousled vocals of Megan Danielle. Their debut album, Muscle Memories, is energetic pop that takes its cues from acts like the Postal Service and Passion Pit, but what Mnemonic Sounds offers is more immaculate than either, with human voice and electronic sounds seamlessly interlocking. Both Suk and Danielle have worked separately on musical endeavors (Danielle as a solo act, Suk with Non Sequitur), but each has found an ideal collaborator in the other, and Muscle Memories launches Mnemonic Sounds into the forefront of Portland's electronic pop scene. - The Portland Mercury

Mnemonic Sounds...is responsible for some of the most fully formed, wistful pop that Portland has produced in some time. The band's debut album, Muscle Memories features 13 glistening gems made shinier by Megan Ouchida and Peter Suk's crystalline vocal harmonies and the buffed-out sheen of programmed electronics and processed synths found all over the album. With the confidence imbued in their compositions, these Sounds are in the position to become the next breakout act from our hometown - Willamette Week

Portland’s Mnemonic Sounds’ debut album “Muscle Memories” is a meticulously crafted and highly listenable combo of electro-pop, rock, techno, Brit Invasion melodies and cocktail sounds. With its male-female voices, the CD sounds like two shy computer programmers or baristas falling in love, or at least becoming close in a respectful yet clearly best friends type of way. Its understated gentle harmonic vocal approach holds together tunes melodically beautiful, lyrically intelligent and short enough to keep from getting repetitive. - The Portland Tribune

Bio
Mnemonic Sounds is a Portland-based electro-pop band poised to become one of 2011’s hottest new acts. The band was formed in 2009 by pianist/vocalist Peter Suk and singer/guitarist Megan Danielle Ouchida after Peter heard Megan’s compelling voice on her solo recordings. He invited her to sing harmonies on a few of his songs, and both quickly realized they had stumbled onto a unique sound with tremendous potential. The pair took turns orchestrating each other’s song ideas and within a few months had the groundwork for a phenomenal first album. Their shared fascination with rich harmonies, intricate textures, and danceable beats prompted parallels to Postal Service, Tegan and Sara, Passion Pit, and Imogen Heap.
As recording for the album began, Peter and Megan fleshed out their sound, recruiting drummer Patrick Hughes and guitarist Michael Blake, both of whom proved integral to the band’s robust and dynamic live set. The band was soon featured by a number of prominent music blogs, and played shows with other breakout indie bands such as Phantogram. By July 2010, the duo had released their highly-acclaimed debut album, Muscle Memories. In a matter of weeks, publishing, licensing, and booking offers recognizing the potential of the band began rolling in.
The band is looking forward to an upcoming live performance on the Portland affiliate of National Public Radio, and has begun work on an EP due out in summer 2011. They are also currently filming two music videos and planning an overseas tour. While a number of labels have expressed interest in the band, Mnemonic Sounds has chosen to remain unsigned for the time being.
