Bio
Mischievous Thom started in 2008 at Bellarine Secondary College. It started, very simply, to win the Battle of the Bands competition that would be held only a week later. They didn't win but placed 2nd against bands that had been together for much longer with a set list that already included an original song "Displaced" which was written at their very first rehearsal and later featured on both their EP and their first album "Kindness in Red".
From out of this experience it was clear that Mischievous Thom as a collective had some talent in composition and for next few years it was prolific. The songs were anywhere between a disaffected punk anthem and heart breaking ballads and even occasionally a strange twisted combination.
As the members of the band changed privately, so did the music; So dramatically that one, then another of the original members grew cold to the new sound and eventually left.
The most recent EP features folk and funk sounds in Mischievous Thom's own way, exploring the disturbing depths of a human mind and tells stories of young aliens, old junkies, beautiful women in baths and quirky friendships turned sour all from an external perspective. The song writing style is strongly influenced by Nick Cave and Neil Young whilst the sound is more Modest Mouse and Powderfinger whilst remaining entirely unique to Mischievous Thom.
