Mickey Harte landed Stateside last
week for a three-week tour of concerts
and promotional work.
Currently in North Carolina, Mickey
will also perform a series of concerts in
Chicago this weekend.
But more importantly it will also
mark the beginning of a brand new
recording project for Mickey as he is in
the process of laying down songs for a
new album.
Mickey revealed that the new album
will have a more acoustic feel to it, but
nevertheless it will still have the MJ
stamp of catchy music and lyrics by the
talented writer.
Landing at Charlotte Airport last
Thursday night, Mickey was taken on a
two-hour journey through the famous
Blue Ridge Mountains into John Denver
Country.
Mickey said, “On Friday morning we
had or first engagement at Appalachian
State University (ASU) I was invited
to talk and perform to a group of the
music grads there.
“I did three performances around the
campus that also included a seminar on
entrepreneurship.
“They where interested to know why
I had left the safety of the SONY umbrella
to set up my own label (Swerve
Music) so that was fun trying to explain.
“I don't know if I’ve even figured that
one out myself yet, but I'm sure it was
for the best in the long run,” he
laughed.
On Saturday, after spending some
time in tour manager Eric J’s house
overlooking Grandfather Mountain,
Mickey and the gang went to perform
at a venue with a somewhat ‘chequered’
past.
“Once a general store, a saloon, a
speak easy, casino, brothel, and now
restaurant and music venue, The
Canyons is a cool venue near the town
of Boone in North Carolina.
“It’s a restaurant that doubles into a
great live venue by night and it has by
far the most amazing view of any place
I’ve ever played by far,” he said
On Sunday Mickey performed at the
River House, in the front porch of this
old Southern Farmhouse hotel, where
70 guests sat quietly in anticipation of
his performance.
“I didn't know what to expect, but
not to bore you with the details receiving
a standing ovation at the end of the
gig wasn't the worst thing that's ever
happened to me.
“So I guess they liked it, but not as
much as I did,” he laughed.
He will back in Dublin on Tuesday,
October 26, for his resident Tuesday
night with his band, The Enemies, in
the Russell Court Hotel, Harcourt

Mickey Harte has always been moulding and chiselling away as a very competent singer and songwriter. He first cut his music teeth at the early age of fifteen and dedication has certainly been his backbone. His sound falls into the acoustic pop/rock genre with a strong contempory folk element to it. It came really as no surprise that Sony UK put him in a stronger place creatively and musically with a deal in 2003, he wanted to show the world that he was a singer/songwriter of substance and is enthused with his music and his songs and indeed the direction they are taking and going. Mickey's passion and hunger for music is evident in his live performances and he's still working 24/7 on a very bright and promising career. His immediate plan is to tour increasingly more internationally promoting his current album 'Live & Learn' and he has just recently started work in CHICAGO on a new record, an album for which he has written a lot more new material. Working title "mans aloud to dream" due for release in USA march 2011. His ambition is to bring his songs and music to as many countries as possible and touch the lives of people with his words and sound which is looking increasingly possible with the great support and help from his management Shea Mc Nelis@ the agency, Dublin who look after all things for him here in the Irish market and the newest addition to the clan Celtic Force Enterprises in the USA.
