Michael Teaney

I am a composer and producer living in Nashville, Tennessee. Living in Music City, I have spent countless hours in recording studios working as a musician, producer and engineer. During this time in the studio, I have learned an enormous amount of musician jokes, my favorite concerning the banjo – one of the instruments I play.

I grew up in West Virginia. My compositions are influenced by the music of that area, as well as the "classical" music I studied in college. However, to say these are my only influences would be misleading, and to cover them all would require too much space.

One element often present in my music is the innate purity of acoustic instruments. However, this is certainly not the only element, and no matter where it is centered, there is a rawness that is hard to deny.

The album, The Meantime, has the instrumentation of a bluegrass band, but certainly not the sound. Tracks off The Meantime are included in this EPK via the audio tab. Also found there are pieces written for multiple classical guitars featuring various other sounds.
