Michael Chorvat

Inspired and influenced by many artists including Jeff Buckley, Matthew Good, Butch Walker, Bright Eyes and Damien Rice one might say I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. Like most people in this world Ive been through some shit and have always managed to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Music is my therapy. It allows me to confront my demons head on. I have something to say. Topics range from life, death, obsession and addiction to self-discovery, love and heartache. Yes my songs are personal, but the message is universal. I write about my trials and tribulations hoping that people who have gone through same thing or have shared in the same thoughts will be able to relate on some level. Thats really what music is about to me.

It all started about a year ago when a good friend asked me to play an acoustic show at the well-known Double Door venue in Chicago. Ive been in the Chicago-based band Treaty of Paris for years, but I had never played a show by myself in my entire life. The experience made me realize how I could connect with people on a totally different level than I could in the band. I really loved this feeling along with having complete creative freedom, so I decided to keep playing solo shows while still continuing to be the front man in Treaty of Paris.

I have since played a handful of solo acoustic shows within the last year at various intimate settings around Chicago. My current plan is to play out more frequently and to continue to write. Over the years Ive probably written a few albums worth of material that Ive just been sitting on. I would like ears other than my own to hear these songs. With a home studio setup in my very own bedroom, my goal is to pick the most cohesive handful of songs and release an EP by the end of 2010.
