In addition, Heap invited the creators of her favourite Vancouver fan-response video to come up and sing with her. [Meliah] supported Imogen Heap with an a cappella number that boasted rare and stunning harmonies akin to the vocal genius of the Dirty Projectors. By letting her fans dictate the course of the evening, Heap demonstrated the astute adaptations that are becoming necessary to survive the music industry’s rigorous landscape. - 24 Hours News Vancouver

“AUTHENTIC” Melissa Endean (Rave On) **** As someone who reviews music, I don’t expect to be bowled over or captivated by anything that crosses my desk, really, but I secretly hope for it, sometimes praying, even though I’m not religious. Melissa Endean’s 2nd album had me by the pumper before the first song was half done. Country music is in Endean’s blood- one of her grandfathers played with Johnny Cash and her first album, “Home Sweet Home” is charming slightly off the path country stuff, and one of my recent favorite CD’s. Authentic” is the sound of an artist searching for and finding her own true style. Born in Kamloops, Endean is a product of the coffee house circuit, and it shows in the intimacy of her songs. The arrangements, even on the upbeat pop stuff, is uncluttered, and that clear, strong voice (in both her singing and lyrics) draws you right in, making you want to put all of your stuff down and stay for awhile. I listened to the new Willie Nelson album right before cozying up with “Authentic”, and Endean’s songs felt right at home next to Willie’s take on some staggering classics. That her music would feel so natural next to a set like that speaks to the emotional romantic pull of both her writing and singing. “Authentic” is a set of songs that will get you where you live, leaving a warm feeling behind- until next time. ....
KEY CUTS: “Nightingales”, “I Evolve”, “Cold In Lonely”

Bio
Their music is catchy yet different; their lyrics inspire both young and old; and through this shocking collision, CBC’s rising jazz star Melissa Endean and YouTube sensation Leah Mertz just might be onto something…
After meeting at an audition in late 2009 the girls quickly became musical BFF’s. Mertz was originally auditioning for the position of keyboard player for Endean’s solo indie-jazz act; however, it was soon apparent that the girls had a musical chemistry that refused to be ignored. Seizing upon the opportunity, Mertz and Endean began performing as a duo to seemingly “overnight” success. Within only two short weeks of establishing themselves as “Meliah” the girls were invited to perform at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Whistler, British Columbia, where they had their debut performance to an international audience of over 11,000 spectators.
As if this wasn’t honor enough for such a young band, Meliah had yet another incredible success within only a few short months of their Olympic debut. After a quick audition, the girls’ were invited to perform with Grammy award-winner Imogen Heap on her 2010 Ellipse World Tour. In addition to being invited on stage to accompany Heap on her hit track ‘Earth’, Meliah was privileged to open the sold-out show with a set of their original music.
Despite their early successes, what really makes these girls’ so special is their “do-it-yourself” attitude. After recording a quick demo with a couple of different producers, the girls’ decided to take on the writing, production, engineering and mixing of their first EP themselves. The result is an EP that combines technological ingenuity with a modern day singer-songwriter vibe, and in true “Meliah” fashion, each tune is jam-packed with layers of melodic harmonies that give even the warmest listener a chill.
Fresh, innovative, and with only up to go, “Meliah” is the newest sensation to step out onto the Canadian music scene.
