"Record of the Day"

Mean Tambourines call Nashville, Tennessee their home, and they have a southern swagger to them, but also a touch of the polish of the Killers. Built on the Kind of sound that still does well at radio, and songs on reserve, this one could blow up.

Bio

Mean Tambourines’ debut ep “War” echos far more 1978 london than it does Nashville, Tennessee of today. With nods to avant garde pop artists such as: The Cars, David Bowie, The Jam, Boomtown Rats and The Cure, we're reminded of a time when pop music was exciting. It's that spirit of excitement, coupled with an undeniable relevance in their songs that makes them one of the most promising young bands to hit the scene in 2009.

The first seedling for Mean Tambourines came when singer songwriter Ryan Truso left the desert of Arisona, met drummer Gabe Pigg while both toured as players for Pigg’s brother, RCA recording artist, Landon Pigg. Once back in Nashville, the two began writing and playing locally as Mean Tambourines, initially performing as a duo before bringing on bassist Chris Boyle and guitarist Austin Brown.

It wasn't long before the bands demos were being featured on popular music blogs such as hypemachine, futuresounds, and thundercrack playlist and showing up in industry publications like Record of the Day (UK) as well as on regional and european independent radio. In a short time, and with very little effort, they found themselves in places that very few bands have the opportunity to enjoy. Their debut ep, the Roger Nichols (Paramore, Hayley Williams) produced “WAR” is due out this summer.
