Matt Monaghan’s music is the sound of a man falling in love with the concept of sound and lyrics forming patterns together to tell about unique situations and stories. Being adored and revered by his fan base in Europe, Monaghan has decided to cross the Atlantic in order to bring his resoundingly respected and admired music to mainland America. Matt Monaghan originally comes from England, but he's spent the last thirteen years travelling and working in many different countries.
Three years ago Matt got serious about his song-writing, moved to Cadiz in South west Spain and started a band. He quickly found an audience for his music. Over the past two Matt has been busy touring all over Spain, playing in festivals and concerts ranging from old abandoned flamenco halls to outdoor acoustic music festivals.
Matt plays guitar, ukulele and banjo with his band of double bass, second guitar and drums. One of Matt's passions is sciences, especially the natural world, evolution and astronomy - most of Matt's songs tell stories and many explore new developments in these areas. Matt is also committed traveller and likes to spend long periods travelling in countries, learning the local language and looking in dark places for song ideas.
In March 2011, Matt is taking part in an ecological expedition to the uninhabited 'Clipperton Island' in the Pacific ocean where he will take part in a scientific study and produce an album of songs from the experience.
Matt released his first album of song 'the lost boundary' in Jan 2010. He also set up his personal website, with an exploding volcanic theme and live demos of new songs.
