Bio
Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair attended the same Saginaw, MI high school, but never met until years later when the Internet united them for the first time on Myspace.com. Sharing common interests in David Lynch films and west-coast hip-hop, a romance rapidly blossomed and the duo moved to Chicago together where they started to write songs inspired by melodies Mars Argo would hum in the bathtub. These fragments were recorded on their laptops and used as background music for short films on their YouTube channel GROCERYBAG.TV. Several of these videos went viral online and they quickly massed over one and a half million views on their channel with many viewers demanding MP3s of the music.
Prompted by excited YouTubers, they released their songs on the debut EP Technology is a Dead Bird. This would prove to be a great success for the duo, with over 15,000 digital singles independently sold to this day. Mars Argo's brutally honest lyrics and Sinclair's 60s-meets-90s audio production inspired one reviewer to remark, "It sounds like Madonna swallowing The Beatles." The success of their first release encouraged the duo to recruit Memphis Donahue on bass guitar and Richard Lombardo on drums in an effort to propel their music beyond the digital confines of the Internet and into the crusty, depressing clubs of Chicago. As the band continues to progress with new short films and music videos online, the live experience has blossomed into one of the most exciting acts of this year. The group is currently shooting a groundbreaking Internet-based feature film, performing live around the US, and preparing to record their debut self-titled LP Mars Argo.
