Bio
Mallard is a Calgary rock band formed in 2006. Amos, Alex, Jeremy and Nate have all played together since 2001 in Cranston Foundation who had some success playing a lot of sold out rooms all over western Canada.
Guided by Amos Bradley, Mallard took time to develop songs and a tight and powerful live show. In 2010 Jay Sinclair joined the band. (Bass player for Calgarys recently reformed Belvedere) This added a new burst of energy into the group pushing forward the recording process to finish their first effort Concrete Nature in 2011.
In March of 2013, Josh Gwilliam of Pilot Audio recorded Mallards second album Value System. Mark Mills, (another fantastic Alberta artist) offered his place at the time in Okotoks. The band setup shop in the living room with large windows over looking Saskatoon Berry Farm and snowy horse pastures. All ten songs were recorded live off the floor in one evening. Vocals and some lead guitar parts were finished over the next 3 days in Joshs mobile mixing studio truck. Reverb was captured in the horse barn and the tiled shower in the house. Value System is a collection of songs with themes of nature, urban living, personal enlightenment and relationships.
Influences include: The Minutemen, Fugazi, My Morning Jacket, The Clash, Black Mountain, Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, Jawbreaker, Starflyer 59, Dave Bazan, etc, etc.
