Madeline’s Toybox

Madeline’s Toybox is the culmination of 80 plus years of professional music experience. Kris Hensler, Michael Lapp, Andy Schaefer, and Jamie Abbott make up the children’s music group Madeline’s Toybox. The music of “MTB” blends together the sound and feel of mainstream pop music with the fun and energy of a six year old. In 2004 three members of the successful nightclub act “The Agency” decided it was time to put their energy into a project that would fit with their busy family lives. And so Madeline’s Toybox was born. Since that time, Kris, Michael, and Andy have been busy writing and recording the next generation of children’s musical classics. Their first CD, Great Big Sunshine day was released in the spring of 2006. In early 2010 the band brought singer Jamie Abbott on board in order to complete the MTB sound. Their next album, “Big Time Fun,” will be released in the second half of 2011. Madeline’s Toybox: Real Music for Real Kids!

Kris Hensler: Drummer, guitarist, bass player, and principal songwriter for the band, Kris brings with him over 25 years of professional music experience. Starting at the tender age of 5 he started drum lessons with his father, John. Those early drum lessons started a lifelong passion for music that continues to this day. From garage bands in the eighties to professional touring acts in the 90’s Kris has the experience it takes to create and perform music that will entertain audiences of all ages.

Andy Schaefer: Keyboardist, bass, harmonica, and kitchen sink. Andy grew up in Rochester, New York where he studied classical piano and cello at the Eastman School of Music. Kris and Andy first met while performing with the Indiana University Jazz Ensemble. More recently Andy has lent his formidable skills to regional acts “Suspended Animation” and “The Jury” before landing with Kris and Michael in “The Agency” and now “Madeline’s Toybox.”

Michael Lapp: As co-lead singer and lead guitarist for the band, Michael contributes a vast wealth of experience in front of an audience as well as a strong and versatile voice. In the 80’s Michael was a founding member and lead singer for regional act “The Hush.” in which Kris was also the drummer. Later Michael again met up with Kris and Andy to form “The Agency” and then “Madeline’s Toybox.”

Jamie Abbott: Lead Vocals, Bass, Guitar. Jamie is the newest and also the youngest member of the band. At only 19 years old Jamie has already won numerous regional and national vocal competitions. Jamie brings to the band an amazing vocal ability that is rare among even the most seasoned professionals. A combination of marketable good looks, stage presence, and pitch perfect vocals give Jamie that much sought after “Star Quality.”
