"The Spine Magazine"

“It’s incredible rock. Incredibly touching. Incredibly sexy.” 10/10! - The Spine

"Light's Out! Show's On!"

I sat in on Lluther’s first rehearsal on US soil two nights ago and instantly knew i’ve become part of something huge. What I heard in the small, rented space at Hollywood’s Swinghouse Studios was enormous. And while I filmed the band, sitting right at the center and in the thick of their contagious, energetic noise, I felt a forgotten but once-familiar combination of adrenaline and exhilaration wash over me – the same potent concoction i had felt neary two decades ago upon listening to Nirvana’s Bleach for the first time as a little kid: I wanted to take on the world, no-holds-barred, right then and there; i wanted to scream and dance – violent balletrina style, to jump on my bed relentlessly, and do some other pretty bad-girl things along the way, just because i could or perhaps because that was how much freedom i was suddenly aware was bursting inside me. All of which is EXACTLY what rock & roll is supposed to do to us, right? Or as my friend DG put it while trying to win my post-concert attention/favor via facebook-wall-post one night: “Yes that’s how f***in’ Rock n Roll should make me feel: a little too powerful/sexy for my own good.”

Lluther steps up and provides the ‘meat-and-potatoes’ /legit RAWK that’s been SORELY missing from today’s music scene for so long that “Rock is Dead” is not just cliche, it’s a taken for granted assumption before the music ever starts. Newsflash dearies: Rock is not dead, Rock was dead. Enter Lluther. Why, whaddaya know? Rock (& Roll) is Resurrected. Thx, lads.

"SAM DOUMIT - HOST - SUCIDEGIRLS RADIO INDIE 103.1"

“Lluther blew us SuicideGirls away! We can’t wait for those boys to hit the states! They’re hot and they ROCK! From the moment we met Lluther and heard the album, we knew the world couldn’t wait. Lluther is going to blow everyone away! After years on Indie, with so many bands that pass through our studio doors and sit in front of our mics, it’s exhilarating to hear a band with those pounding beats, beautifully dark melodies, and legitimately every thing that made us love indie rock to begin with. Finally! The music industry has been waiting for and needing a band like Lluther! We love Lluther in every awesome way.” - Suicide Girls Radio

"DOUG FREEL - AWARD WINNING MUSIC VIDEO & FILM DIRECTOR"

"So many heartless bands are playing at it. You have only to listen to know that Lluther are living it. Lluther are this year’s sound redemption.” - Doug Freel

"Irish Noise!"

Three years since the release of their debut album, Lluther are back! After a long quiet period, the band are ready to reemerge with a hard hittin’, heavy rock second album, Rise of the Reptile King. Today the band release the second single from the album, King of Nothing. Their first single, In The Dollhouse came out last month and much to Tickets There’s dismay We only heard about it today from our old rivals (who we’re beating in the hits war by the way. Push it guys – Ed) Hotpress. After fierce negotiations, some sackings and knee delivered apologies, Tickets There has decided to review both songs and save face,

In The Dollhouse is a terrific, building piece of rock music. Imagine Monster Magnet, Marilyn Manson and Scott Weiland writing a song and you’ll get close. There are so many different styles as the song moves from sustained melodies and echoing vocals to hard edged guitars and explosive changes. Each listen brings new love for the song and as first singles go, this is a pretty good sign of things to come.

King of Nothing is a totally different monster altogether. It’s like hard rock meets funk as synth/guitar riffs build the bridges while vocals intertwine throughout leaving the drums do their best to let you know what direction the foot stomping, C.A.F. (Catchy as F**k) chorus is going in. The guitars are nastier, the vocals are clearer, the production, playing, writing everything is just brilliant. While In The Dollhouse may take one or two listens to really warm up to, King of Nothing will drill straight into your playlist and stay there until you nuke the damn thing out.

Although there’s only a sample of the next two singles, Rise of the Reptile King and Femme Fatale up, they both sound like they’d rock the bollocks of a mammoth so expect a follow up review as soon as we have the album and/or when the songs come out.

Jez, after the amazing stuff we heard from Million$Reload, Tickets There didn’t think anyone else could come close but by God there’s some savage stuff going on in the Lluther camp. This will be an album well worth picking up and loving.

Catch them when they play Dublin’s, The Button Factory on March 27th - Ticket's There

"Lluther!! - Strippers Music"

Lluther is a mostly unknown ambient industrial metal band based in Dublin, Ireland!! Lluther plays sleazy gritty rock with tight guitars and industrial influences comparable with the music of NIN and Stabbing Westward. The balance between furious guitar eruptions, machine-like drumbeats and emotional moments with at moments whispered vocals but also abundant screaming is comparable while Lluther knows how to give it a twist of their own. i’ve discover this band while listening to a compilation and was instantly hooked to one of their song. agents of empire this song mix perfectly slow pace and melodic music with very heavy and intense passage.
LLuther will be a band to discover in a near future!! - Strippers Music

"INSIDE THE MYSTERY OF THE DOUBLE 'L'"

It’s a well-known fact that most band names are essentially gobbledygook, but here at Rocks Off we’re trying hard to find meaning in the oddest monikers.

Rock is dead, but every once in a while Rocks Off likes to diddle the corpse. The subject of our latest necrophilia is an alternative-rock band out of Dublin called Lluther, who is coming to stay here in America and rock tits to absolute dust. We’ve become wildly addicted to the title track of their new album Rise of the Reptile King, and think that the band could be a real shot in the arm to the touring rock scene.

They’re loud, they’re evil and, most importantly, they sound as opposite of American Idol as is possible. Welcome to the land of the free, boys. You can pick up your deep-fried Snickers and a set of Truck Nutz after you check in.

Fond as we are of our new Irish friends and their wailing rock wackadoo, what the hell is up with that name? Lluther?
You’re probably aware that your humble narrator was forced to amputate an “F” in order to save our family from Jigsaw, so the flaunting of extra letters is something we’re taking as a personal insult. If Lluther’s music didn’t kick so much ass, we’d be hiding outside their window with a jar of Vicks in one hand and seven sharp pencils in the other.
Since our probation prohibits that, we contented ourselves by jumping into their tour band from the back of a motorcycle and demanding to know where the hell the name came from.
“I really need to come up with a much more rock and roll answer to that question, but the truth is a little more matter of fact,” says guitarist and vocalist Gerry Owens. “I was in a band called Skindive before Lluther and I remember very clearly when one morning it suddenly became clear to me that I needed to finish Skindive and start a new band.
“The name Lluther came into my head and that was that. There was no thinking involved, it was one of those instant clarity moments. I go by instinct or gut feeling most of the time, so I just went with it!
Just as we thought, another moniker with absolutely nothing deeper behind it. Rocks Off was admittedly disappointed, hoping the name had some kind of hidden force behind it. Having just seen the name emblazoned across the top of a Facebook page, it behooved us to question what extra one does with an extra “L.”
“Well,” says Owens. “If one happens to be in Wales it would sound a lot different because of the double ‘L.’ In Whales, ‘Ll’ is pronounced ‘ch’ – which would sound something like chuther.”
Color us nonplussed.
One more thing was bothering us as we prepared to leap from the back of Lluther’s tour van. Word processors mock our single “F” name with the red squiggly line of fail whenever we type it. It’s like technology itself is making fun of us. Perhaps just once we could find some kind of kindred spirit.
How much does it hurt you when spellcheck keeps telling you that you spelled the name wrong?
“Don’t know what you mean,” Owens says. “My computer can spell Lluther perfectly.”
Ouch.

Bio

After the dissolution of his successful electro-rock group Skindive the groups founder, songwriter and main guitarist Gerry Owens found himself pushing for a new direction in music, when the name "Lluther" just came to him. Quickly signed by German heavy rock label Tiefdruck Music, Lluther soon after released "Agents Of Empire" to overwhelming critical acclaim and a frenetic listener response that has only kept building. Since 2006, thanks to a sizable and ever-increasing fan base, Lluther has toured throughout Europe extensively, supporting major headliners and as a staple in the festival scene. In 2008, when the group amicably parted ways with Tiefdruck and signed with music giants EMI Publishing, a crackling current of inspiration, not unlike like a divine epiphany, charged through Lluther and sent the band back into the studio.

The end result, “Rise Of The Reptile King" is a self contained renaissance; a concept album in the vein of David Bowie and Pink Floyd that pushes the boundaries of rock music. Lluther artfully explores the dark tale of a mysterious anti-hero and his spectacular rise, fall & rise again, set against a supernatural landscape of circus performance, freak shows, and all things occult, profane and bizarre. Cracking through the modern indie-alt-noise-rock panorama, Lluther holds up a mirror of beautiful chaos in which everyone who listens can see a little bit of themselves. It is seductive and exciting, it is inspired and driven, and most importantly, it is rock & roll and it is now.

Already finding a resonance with fans and music industry types alike, the buzz around the band and their new record appears to be catching on with haste. A handful of promotional singles sent to European rock stations last summer snagged gobbs of airtime and one track, "In The Dollhouse" spent 4 weeks on the Virgin Rock Radio Airplay Top 20 in Italy alongside U2, Them Cooked Vultures & Depeche Mode. In the US, Lluther has successfully enlisted the full promotional support of LA's infamous SuicideGirls after their first guest appearance on the radio show in late January. The alt-rock pinup icons have made Lluther their new pet Rock&Roll cause and are even slated to star in the band’s next video, "Until She Comes” that’s set to be directed by the award winning Doug Freel.
