Lisa Katzoff

The LIsa K Band's Lead singer is Lisa Katzoff. Lisa is a singer whose style spans an unusual combination of musical genres from Jazz, Motown and Broadway music to Rock and Pop. One minute she is a Broadway diva belting out Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow” but the next minute she follows it up with a smoky soulful take on a Frank Sinatra tune and then after that might be a sexy rocking version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Belieivin’”.

Creativity shines within her talent. Lisa grew up in urban New York City, constantly surrounded by the arts. Lisa loves to create things, and music is no exception. She is a gifted songwriter as well as a singer.

Growing up in New York City allowed her to nurture her talents with some of the best in the biz; Professional Concert Musicians, Broadway performers, Opera Singers and Rock Stars and Movie Stars all served as her instructors. Four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts to study acting and musical theatre with the “Fame” movie professionals and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Queens College helped round out her education. After a college exchange program sent her to Paris for a semester, Lisa fell in love with France, and was bitten by the travel bug. While in France, she busked at the Georges Pompidou center and literally “sang for her supper” until she found a job as an entertainer at the Euro Disney (now Disneyland Paris) resort. “This experience totally changed my life, “ says Lisa, and she has been traveling the world ever since to keep up her language and cultural skills. Besides speaking and singing in French fluently, Lisa also sings in Spanish and Italian.

Currently Lisa still puts her music skills to good use as owner, lead singer and entertainer of a party entertainment company, working with bands, disc Jockeys and karaoke and other entertainment specialties for private events. Lisa loves the spotlight and feels just at home performing on a big concert stage or a small intimate venue. Speaking of big stages, Lisa has performed on many all over the USA: at House of Blues in Las Vegas, several Disney resort stages in both Florida and California, and even events at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Lisa is married for over 13 years to David Katzoff, who plays keyboards on much of her music. David has shared the stage with luminaries such as Joan Jett, Deborah Gibson and and Grace Garland. David is from the Virginia/Maryland area and has also performed with many local orchestras and bands there.

The Lisa K Band drummer is John Foschino, who has performed with Laura Brannigan, and many Jazz and Blues bands in the Tri- state area.

On guitar we have two very talented players: Bruce Sokol, a Rock and Roll guitarist who plays our live shows and loves to cover Journey songs and Blues songs, and Christopher Martinez, a NYC songwriter and seasoned music veteran who plays on our recordings, especially the more jazzy stuff.

Our bass player varies depending on the night, but we have had an eclectic mix of several local New Jersey Jazz musicians and Rock and Blues musicians join us, including Bill Abbott from the Ray Charles band, Masaya, the Japanese blues man and one of the members of the oldies group the Cameos.

When we perform live we are usually 5 pieces, but when we do recordings we add a few backup singers to the mix.
