"Describe yourself in one word," demanded a stranger. With no need for contemplation, Lindsay Taylor replied, "passionate." In all of its definition and emphasis, this word chronicles this singer/songwriter's existence. Inspired simply by the air we breathe and by human endurance, Lindsay Taylor may be young in years but she possesses what others have come to construe as an "old soul." This characteristic has worked for and against her favor but for the most part she explains, with a wink of the eye, "It's a blessing because it makes for good songwriting." Whether Lindsay is singing a cover or an original piece, you can bet she's experienced it, or she just bears strong convictions which enable her to convey the emotion of the story being told.
Born on Christmas morning, she spent her younger years singing tracks off Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation album to choreographing dance routines for her classmates to creating rap versions of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Anything but naive, this multi-faceted, multi-talented performer, originally from Kansas City (a jazz hub), has been influenced by an amplitude of sounds from Motown to Classic Rock to her true calling, Soul. Lindsay Taylor illustrates not only how to croon the modulation of soul but how to convey the feelings that embody soul. She insists that, "Soul is more than just a sound...It's audible, tangible, and visible."
Growing up in the midwest, it was viewed as impractical to set your aspirations upon becoming a performing artist, so Lindsay focused her attention on other aesthetics. Never being the type to follow the crowd, instead of attending University, she packed her bags one month after graduating high school and drove halfway across America to reside in a city that she now gracefully calls home, Los Angeles. She attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) majoring in fashion design, an artistic ability that proved to be an additional "passion" and creative outlet of hers. Upon graduating college, she worked as a graphic designer, honing her skills with various t-shirt companies throughout southern California.
Somewhere deep in her soul, the aspiration of becoming a singer/songwriter/musician idled and in 2007, she began the journey. She currently released her debut EP, Limited.
