Mixing dark atmospheres a la Joy Division while throwing pop melodies in there like it’s the easiest job in the world, a highly re-watchable group this band makes this complicated and well arranged set seem very simple. A purposeful resolution affects the drums while the bass is both constant and changing; it’s intent on blowing up, even as the low intensity of the charismatic lead vocal is steadily determined to soothe you. The guitarist and keyboardist is a key component in the set-up of the band thanks to the beautiful arcing melodies he weaves through the music. The introspective lyrics and harmonies are guided by the soft voice of front-man Chris: dreamy, penetrating and romantic. The arrangements and compositional structure of songs denote the continuing search for an organic sound, rather than the intent to simply write catchy songs just to be catchy. The result is certainly effective and interesting and expresses the need to highlight their own identity.
