Bio
Chicago blues recording artist Leon McNeal came to Chicago, Illinois in 1953 from his hometown, Clarksville, Mississippi. He stayed in Chicago for two years until his family moved to Detroit where he went to high school. Upon graduation from high school, Leon went to the United States Army. He started playing music as a drummer in 1958. His first job was with the Chicago- based band Love Lee And The Sensations. He also freelanced with different artists including Earl Hooker and Magic Sam. Leon eventually switched to the bass guitar and played with Howling Wolf, Albert King, Johnny Dollar, and Johnny Little John until 1980. In 1981 Leon started his career as a vocalist when he and Nolan Struck started a band together. He began recording in 1984. The first recording was "Don't Let Your Love Make Me Do You Wrong" and has been recording ever since. Leon has five CD's to his credit;"What Goes Up Must Come Down", "Love Is A Gamble", "Shame, Shame, Shame", "Friend 2 Friend" (with Nolan Struck), and "In The Groove".
