Bio
I am a native San Franciscan, singer/songwriter/ bass guitarist.I began my professional career as the bass player for singer Dorothy Morrision(lead vocalist on the internationally acclaimed hit "OH Happy Day").I began my solo career in 1995. My sound is a integration of of ''Old School influence, with a contemporary spin of Jazz,Soul, R&B, and Funk.My influences range from traditional quartet Gospel groups such as the: Pilgrim Jubilees, The Fantastic Violinaires,The Salem Travelers, The Gospelaires, The Highway Q.C.'s, and the Swan Silvertones. R&B influences; Cameo, Earth, Wind,& Fire, The Dazz Band, and Lakeside. Vocalist who have direct influnce on me are: Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Gerald Austin of the "Manhattans", Ira Tucker of the "Dixie Hummingbirds", Clay Graham of the "Pilgrim Jubilees", and Isiah Jones of the ''Fantastic Violinaires".
My bass playing reflects the great respect and appreciation for Stanley Clark, Jaco Pastorius, Verdeen White of " Earth, Wind,& Fire",Bernard Edwards of "Chic", Michael Atkins of the "Pilgrim Jubilees", and Marcus Miller.
My soulful, eclectic sound of jazz, R&B, and funk, influenced the title of my newly released cd" Eclectic Soul". The blending of my various influences, has helped me create a unique sound that is "Soulful and Fresh!".
