Bio
The recipe for Late Night Conversations’ distinct sonic fingerprint is the balanced combination of riveting guitar riffs, dreamy piano soundscapes, and deeply reflective vocals. Born from the soulful searching of diasporic musicians Hafeez Jamal, Husein Manji, and Azin Soltani, LNC’s music seamlessly crosses time, geography and genre to bring you their special blend of electronic reggae-rock. Taken on their journey, your heart and mind will delightfully recall shared influences, from Shankar to Sade, Santana to Sting, Floyd to Enigma, brought forth in a refreshing flavor that is distinctly Late Night Conversations: catchy, soulful, energetic, rhythmic, poetic, mystic.
The name Late Night Conversations alludes to the special moments that musicians have with their instruments in the quiet solitude of the night. The band has been drawing on these moments for its inspiration and quickly gathering momentum in and beyond its hometown of Toronto.
In the late summer of
2016, the band released its debut EP “Waking Muse”, which went on to chart at number 9 on CFRC Kingston in October.
“Waking Muse”
continued to see success in 2017: it was
a selected feature for Toronto’s Music 311 program and the YYZ Live Music
Series; and it was nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award by year’s
end.
LNC performed widely
and successfully in 2017, playing regularly at their residency at The Boxing
Loft Social Club and at myriad venues in Toronto, including The Opera House and
Revival. The band drew large and
enthusiastic crowds, often to break capacity.
Festivals were also a part of their debut touring year, including the
Global Village Festival and the Festival of Friends in Hamilton, the latter
alongside Juno-calibre bands July Talk, Stars and Hollerado.
At the request of international fans, Late Night Conversations concluded their busy 2017 performance schedule with a tour in Costa Rica. They have returned to the studio to record their second, much-anticipated EP, “Kites & Storms” with a planned release in early 2018.
An important part of the band's musical story is the promotion of diversity, culture and expression. In this light, Late Night Conversations regularly speaks and performs at community events to inspire artistic development and cross-cultural collaboration.
