La Luna writes short, intense songs for the times that feel longest.
The Calgary-based post-hardcore four-piece consists of frontwoman Vanessa Gloux, guitarist Nicolas Field, drummer Noah Rabinovitch and bassist Alex Kurth.
Formed in 2009 as "Brain Fever", the quartet released a live cassette, followed by a 4-way split cassette, on Toronto’s A Mountain Far Records. In April 2011 they released their debut full-length album on Pint-Sized Records, and embarked on a 6-week coast-to-coast cross-Canada tour.
True to the DIY ethos that are fundamental to the roots of hardcore punk, La Luna design and print their own merchandise as well as booking all their own tours.
In April 2012, La Luna collaborated with Montreal’s The Discord Of A Forgotten Sketch to release a split 7” record -- material that was named “some of their heaviest and darkest songs” yet.
In June of 2012, La Luna released their sophomore full-length album and embarked on an ambitious 10-week tour of Canada, the UK and Europe.
2013 will see La Luna co-headline a tour of the west-coast of Canada and the USA alongside Chicago hardcore super-group Lord Snow. A second European tour is the works for late-July and further USA touring is sure to follow, with no signs of slowing down.
