Bio
Lady Strangelove are four brothers who love to create music: Azz Shaw, Josh Van Looy, Brendan Shaw & Fox Faerhmann.
They treat each song as it's own journey, fusing their eclectic influences (rock, electronica, prog, blues, funk, soul, hiphop, folk, metal, ambient, dub/reggae, jazz, IDM/glitch, tribal, grunge, Southern-Americana, Latin & Indian) into an adventurous sonic concoction of psychedelia. This approach to music accompanies an energetic live show that incorporates wall-melting lights & projected visuals, making for a colourful cinematic experience of sound and moving images.
Since forming in Adelaide, South Australia in 2006 (and having seen other members come & go over the years), they have had the opportunity to share the stage with a diverse range of both national and international artists, including:
The Black Keys (USA), Black Mountain (USA, hand picked by the band themselves for their "In The Future" Australian Tour), Trans Am (USA), The Mighty Boosh's DJ Mike Fielding AKA Naboo (UK), The Temper Trap, Wolfmother, Tame Impala, Midnight Juggernauts, The Drones, PVT (formerly 'Pivot'), Bob Log the Third, The Mess Hall, Helmet (USA), Children Collide, Regular John & Noxshi (UK). They have also performed at the 2007 Meredith Music Festival, on the Green Stage for the 2007 Big Day Out & on the 2008 Laneway Festival.
Their 2nd and latest EP, 'Freakquencies' was recorded & mixed by Tom Barnes (Empire of the Sun, Mark of Cain) at Mixmasters, & mastered by aria-award nominee Danny Bonnicci (The Crystal Method).
Lady Strangelove are currently recording their debut album, which they began recording in early November 2010 at Radiostar Studio's in Weed, Northern California USA, with acclaimed producer/engineer Sylvia Massey. Massey produced, recorded & mixed the albums Opiate' and 'Undertow' by Tool, and has recorded and/or mixed tunes for an array of diverse artists such as Johnny Cash, R.E.M, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Slayer, Prince, System Of A Down, Sonic Youth, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Smashing Pumpkins & Bjork.
