K.V The game has changed drastically in the past 3 years", comments K.V on the current state of rap after serving a 3 year prison term. "It's evident in every layer of the culture, from the clothes down to who's considered the best in the game. They've taken rap, stripped it down, and hoed it out. The bar has definitely been lowered since the last time I was in the street".
In November 2005, the Jamaica Queens rapper's budding career was halted after a slew of criminal charges were handed down by the Queens County District Attorney; K.V was looking at a maximum of 51 years. K.V was forced to halt negotiations with all interested labels. After an exhausting 8 month legal battle, charges were lessened and K.V was handed a 3 and a half year sentence.
"I've been gone too long. There is a lot I missed out on; TRL's over, The Bassment is done. Fortunately, one thing has changed for the better, and that's my focus. I'm tired of hearing dudes say rap is dead; I'm bout to resuscitate it".
Prior to his legal troubles, K.V was credited with both street and industry accolades. K.V's been featured in numerous mixtapes, including a Best of K.V hosted by DJ On Point. He's recorded collaborations with artists such as DMC, Lady Luck, Tony Yayo, and Cuban Linx. In 2004, K.V held the title of BET's 106 & Park freestyle champion for a four week run until being disqualified by a technicality. K.V's been featured artistically in Footaction's Jason Williams' Adidas commercial.
