The group got together in pieces, just like most bands do. The lead singer, Nate Davis, left his former music group, The Franchize, to start a solo career. After his first album dropped, he missed the camaraderie of his former band mates and paired up with former band mate Mark Steele, aka DJ Unorthodox. They worked together by themselves for awhile, looking for the perfect members to subsidize their new musical group.
A short while later they were fortunate to discover the musical talents of drummer Leon Kittrell, aka Quicksticks. The addition of the drummer added a more solid sound, but they felt something was still missing to produce exactly the kind of music that they wanted to produce.
With the addition of bassist Jeremy “The Professor” Taylor, this group immediately started writing new hits, and polished them up for the public’s ears. After touring major cities all across the Southeast, they took a break from touring to get themselves into the studio. After a few months in the studio, their debut album is finally being released. This album contains an astounding eighteen tracks, and all of them are as good if not better than the one before. The tracks include such popular titles as Drummer Get Wicked, Oz, and Across the World.

Lead singer of the renowned group “The Franchize”, Nate Davis released his solo album and began touring with Mark Steele/DJ Unorthodox (also of The Franchize), drummer Leon "Quiksticks" Kittrell, string prodigy John Souki (or simply "Souki"), and later added bass phenom Jeremy "The Professor" Taylor, creating “KontraBand Muzik”.
Kontraband Muzik has taken Athens, famous for its world famous musical talent, by storm as one of the hottest and most booked independent bands in the nation. Having already built a diverse following, Kontraband Muzik has been featured throughout the Southeast at world famous venues like the Apache Café, Fabulous 40 Watt, The Leak Music Festival and the Tabernacle. Kontraband Muzik delivers unforgettable shows and play to standing ovations.
