KOKO RAY & THE SOUL PROVIDERS -
The boys did well last weekend at the 5-O and we're hoping that seeing Ray at the recent JP gig there might indicate he's developing a fondness for the room and will be playing there again soon? KKR&TSP packed the place and had'em still paying cover charge with a smile at 1a.m.(George, you must be happy?) - from 09/22/07 thisweekinSARASOTA.com page #2

Bio
The band came together in 1999 when Koko moved to the Sarasota, Florida area. After having toured extensively w/ Bluesman Willie & the South Street Runnners and recording on Energy Records for several years, Koko decided to start his own project and began selecting members for Koko Ray & the Soul Providers. He immediately found John Purcell, the guitarist he had been looking for all his life. John plays all styles from Jazz to Old School Rock & Roll and everything in between. Vinny Vingelli Is an outstanding drummer, He has done show throughout the States. He joined the band in late 2009. On our recordings we've used Mac Black and Greg Slusher on Bass. The music of Koko Ray & the Soul Providers is influenced by the classic rock of the late '60s and the mainstream jazz of the mid-'50s as well as the jam band music of today. You can expect to hear a little bit of jazz, blues, R&B, and a whole lot of funk & roll jammin'!!.
