"CD review: Blues...Kind Of!"

"...many kinds of music here...more jazz than blues, as you might expect from a group named after the seminal Miles Davis album.

Funky and fast paced, this is just the kind of CD the Lehigh Valley will go for.

"...a unique take on funk (F Stops)...a melodic after hours number (Kozic)..." - Morning Call, Allentown, PA

"KOB live in NYC"

“Kind Of Blue is one of those bands that everyone loves. That's why they play at least once a month, if not more, with me, at any of the venues I book. Roman and his boys ARE THAT GOOD!”
- Frank Wood, NYC band and club promoter

“Kind of Blue delivers a solid performance that blends the sophistication of jazz with the everyman accessibility of the blues. Whether you prefer Joe Pass or Joe Williams, Roman and company will make you feel right at home.” - Lori Donovan, Contributing Writer, Blues Revue Magazine

“I can highly recommend Roman for his professionalism,
and great musicianship. He is versatile, well studied, and a great

Bio

Stage presence. Visual excitement. Spontaneous improvisation. First take recordings. Each live show unique.

Inspired by the 1959 namesake Miles Davis album, Kind Of Blue prides itself on spontaneous arrangements of originals, classic, and standards.

Ever imagine Miles covering a Hendrix tune, or Hendrix covering a Coltrane standard? Led Zepplin with George Benson? How about jazz musicians performing with the energy of a rock show, or classic rock tunes done with tasteful ambiance!

The Players:

Allan Meyerson: Sax, Flute

Allan Meyerson’s sax and flute mastery is influenced by his mentors Lee Konitz, Dave Leibman, and polished by 40 years of NYC all occasion bands. Soft or hard, classy and creative, he covers any tune in the book. The flute creates an extremely soothing, soft ambiance. The sax can swing and rock. Allan achieves a unique "multi-horn section" sound by employing a doubling electronic effect, giving the entire band the dynamic feel of even more members.

Allan has recorded with world renown trumpet player Jon Faddis, Verve recording artist "Marky" Markowitz, Grammy winner Pepper Adams, and Blood Sweat & Tears member Jim Fielder.

Matt Roman (a.k.a. Roman): Guitar, Vocals

Front man Roman’s guitar styles cover traditional hard bop, soft Wes Montgomery sounds, and a modern-fusion Mike Stern influence. His jazz sound developed from lessons with Pat Martino, and Tal Farlow/Joe Pass protégé Tom Kozic. On tap when required are plenty of stage presence and high energy from his 10 year international touring experience with a rock and punk band. Tasteful R&B and soul standards from his Philadelphia upbringing fine tune the variety available.

Roman has performed with John Popper (Blues Traveler), Rick “Mad Dog” Moyer (Mad Dog & Blues Night Out), Charles Fanbrough (Jazz Messengers), Steve Kimmock (jam band circuit), and has toured the US, England and Europe. He regularly performs in Philadelphia and New York City. An industrial band used his material on an indie film soundtrack and he‘s done background film work.

“Chicago” Carl Synder: Keyboards

Carl played on two albums that won the Handy Award, two more that were nominated for Grammies, and appeared in a film, "Blues Highway," that was nominated for an Academy Award. Carl was one of the pianist’s at Chicago's famed Second City Theater. He has performed in over 40 states and 11 foreign countries.

Since moving to Pennsylvania in 1996 he has continued to play Blues, Jazz and cocktail music in a variety of settings while operating his own record label, Lost World Music, and hosting radio shows on college and public stations.

Drums and Bass

Kind Of Blue employs only the most capable and well known talent available in the given area, from NYC to Philadelphia. Currently KOB consists of Suavek Ziensienko on bass (Todd Wolf Band) and Jim Roman on drums (Jay & The Techniques)
