Bio
Almost from the moment of inception, music has been an integral part of Kima’s life. Growing up in one of the grittiest neighborhoods in Detroit, Kima found solace in the urban beats that reverberated through her soul, and evoked lyrics that described a childhood riddled with adult responsibilities. She studied the clarinet, saxophone and piano in an effort to harness her passion and identify which instrument ransomed her extraordinary love for music and composition. Influenced by Marvin Gaye, Mary J Blidge, Missy Elliot, MC Lyte, Tupac, Biggie, Tina Marie, Nas, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Jay Z, Janet Jackson and so many more artist to many to name here her the love for music is her inspiration period. Kima perfected her talent for writing rap-ladened lyrics with a raw soulful sound. Her freshman singles “Knock-Knock-Knock” and “My Lovin” reflect the advent of a new generation of rap music.
