Kid Freud, a three-piece garage pop group made up of Alex Tomkins, Daniel Closser and Jacob Moore, have been playing music together for about two years, but have recently been honing in on the idea of making colors and textures elements of their sound. Crafting a song mainly around the lyrics and focusing on the message of their music has become a number one priority for the guys while working on their EP The End which was recorded at Club Roar.
The boys’ latest single from the The End, “Evelene,” is a poppy Vampire Weekend reminiscent tune that’s both ridiculously catchy and charming thanks mostly in part to guitarist/singer Tomkins who pulls you into a seesaw romance story we all know too well.
The trio have announced an EP release show for this Friday, August 7th, 7PM at The Basement along with The Astrochimps. You can snag your tickets here and check out the new single “Evelene” below. - Lockeland Springsteen
The new release from Alex Tomkins, Daniel Closser and Jacob Moore, aka Kid Freud, is a roughed-up update on the kind of classic pop songwriting, the kind you'll appreciate if you dig local rockers like Evan P. Donohue, Fox Fun and Quichenight. Their cover of The Four Seasons' "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" slides stealthily in with the originals. - Nashville Scene
