Kelly Paige delivers a level of soul, sass, and substance rarely seen in today’s music. Her smart lyrics and catchy hooks will have you singing and dancing long before you realize she's tackling some serious subject matter with her songs. Kelly's voice is reminiscent of the gritty, female powerhouses of the late 60’s, but with a sexy, modern approach.
Born to immigrants from Zimbabwe who separated when she was six, Kelly’s childhood consisted of countless moves and miles across the country. A true rolling stone, music was her home. At 13 she began playing guitar and writing songs. What started as a love of poetry and literature grew into a passion with the potential for a career. By age 16, Kelly had already been playing cover gigs in local bars. She delved deep into the work of the artists she admired, never restraining herself to one particular genre. From reggae to bluegrass and punk to pop, her eclectic tastes have sculpted her sound into an ever-evolving blend of song-centric works that cater to her interesting tambre and powerful voice.
She moved to Nashville at 18 where she studied Philosophy and Music Business at Belmont University. At 19 she won her first songwriting competition, held by Belmont and Big Yellow Dog Music Publishing. The following two years she was selected as a finalist in ASCAP’s Songwriter Series, and was nominated for Belmont’s “Songwriter of the Year” award.
After a brief stint in London, Kelly was picked up by Azoff Music Management in Los Angeles. She divided her time between Nashville and LA for about a year and half before ultimately deciding that she was meant to be in New York City, where she currently resides.
Vengeance, hope, and heart-break, are all themes Kelly uses to shape her distinct sound. Her songs, though sharp, are sweet with self-reliance and underlying themes of empowerment, proving that true musicianship and artistry still have a place in pop-music.
