One of my favorite things about living in a small town, or a small city, is that I go to small, local shows to see talented singer songwriters perform quite regularly. I like shows that are at small bars. I like to sit at the bar alone or in good company and simply and casually allow myself to feel open and inspired. These kinds of shows are far more intimate and less of a production then a "concert" at a large, crowded venue, and for me, just more enjoyable.
New York City is home to some of the best musical talent in the world- and I try to prioritize seeing music as often as possible. Most of the shows I've been to here have been "concerts" in big places, big rooms, with lots of people. I've also noticed that my social calendar is a lot more filled here in NY (which is not a bad thing) since I am living in the same city as many of my best friends. So making time for the random bluegrass band at the local bar doesn't happen enough- and it's something I really, really enjoy.
It was so refreshing to feel like I was in a small town again on Friday night, sitting at a bar table at The Bitter End with a small group of friends, listening to the music of Kaylin Lee Clinton. This girl is amazing. She is adorable. Gorgeous. And crazy talented. Her sound is new and fresh. It's fun and girly and jazzy and sophisticated all at the same time. Her smile is killer- she has rhythm and soul and a light heart. She has an incredible stage presence. Her songs and sounds are varied. One second, she makes you feel like you want to run through a field of grass wearing a white linen flowing dress on a sunny spring day and by the next song you feel like you want to embody the glamour of a really interesting conversation at a classy cocktail party in the roaring 20's. And then, at times, you feel like you should be sitting on a cozy New York City fire escape, in a sweatshirt, having a New York moment, whatever that is. All of the lyrics and musical compositions are her own. Creative, talented and bold enough for the cut-throat NYC stage- but warm, real and intimate enough for small town dive bars. That's a pretty rare and tricky balance to strike in terms of where she belongs on the musical scene- but truly, it's everywhere. CHECK. HER. OUT.

Modern jazz/soul/R&B enthusiasts should check out the music and vocal style of Kaylin Lee Clinton. What made this performance so special was the fact she had the full band backing her up this time. She had everyone in the basement lounge rockin' to wide range of music genres from Latin groove (with a jazz mix - think Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass) to a little Western and even some French chanteuse songbird. Whew ...plus there was more in between during Kaylin's set. And though her soft vocals perfectly fit the mood and tempo of each song, it was (at times) overpowered by the band itself. Still Kaylin's voice had that certain spark to make the lyrics pop with life. This reviewer enjoyed her chocolaty ode to Yoohoo drinks titled Yoohoo (in which she had never tasted one before). She created a hot and steamy atmosphere for the audience with her Latin-sounding song. The highlight of her performance came when she shared an emotional duet with the keyboardist in which her vocals truly shined. After closing with a fun and witty number, one lucky fan treated this artist to her first Yoohoo! SouthSide highly recommends checking out Kaylin Lee Clinton wherever she's rockin' the stage (with full band or not) as well as checking out her The Dustbunny EP on cdbaby.com. currently resides in New York City. Born on August 6th, 1983, Kaylin
steeped in a household of music, where the Irish, Israeli, and Russian

the influence Peter, Paul, and Mary, Simon and Garfunkle, and the
Beatles, learned to imagine with Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Puccini, and Debussy,
