Similarly, a new lyric video has surfaced on YouTube from up and coming artist Kameron Ray. The video features Kam’s original song “Red” and if you didn’t know any better, you’d think this song was written specifically for the film. The song’s lyrics somehow manage to embody the book’s themes about love (Peeta) and control (the Capitol).Of course, Kam’s Lady in Red hints to our heroine, Katniss “The Girl on Fire” Everdeen. As we already know, images of red and fire play an important role within the books and film as they do in “Red”. With images from the actual film as well as very cool dress sketches, this lyric video creates a visual telling of the song, but through the eyes of a Hunger Games fan.
The references to the film are eerily spot on. I mean, c’mon—”come and pick your poison” or “pretty young thing/it’s a love game/leave your vanity at the door/express yourself/cuz you won’t need it where we’re gonna go”……could it be anymore obvious? But aside from the relatable lyrics, it’s a cool, edgy, sexy rock song with the catchiest hook ever. And is anyone else getting the Lenny Kravitz vibe, too? It’s as if this song was MADE for him to rock out to. I vote for a cameo from Mr. Kravitz when the official music video comes out. The video is a must-see, and I guarantee you won’t be able to get the song out of your head. Check out the lyric video below and tell us what you think! - episodesandreels.com - Meroni
Watch an Epic Lyric Video Presumably About The Hunger Games? It's called "Red," and it's by Kameron Ray, and it's pretty much a catchy, Aerosmith-y ode to Katniss, so we're on board. - Vulture.com - Eliot Glazer
