Bio
A student and teacher of the culture, KaiZen is a bonafide worldwide hustler.
Born and raised in Texas (Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, Austin), but lived on both coast for a minute. Zen lived in LA in the early 90s and moved to the east coast just before Biggie blew up. Both coasts heavily influenced him growing up and inspired him to start rhyming.
Now residing in Austin, TX for work, he's worked with several artists/hustlers including Scrooge McBuckz, O.C, Bluu Suede, Anya Smith, Casino, J Ash Muzik, George Pettus, DJ ILL WILL, JIM-E-O, Killa Kyleon, Shawn Don Winston, Rick Mo 512, Kiki Star, MarqyDe, Young Triga, Tony Dinero, King SoloTX, Jake B Nimble Rodriguez, Andy Valley & Micki Gram (Millionaire Mindset), Jon Keyz, MIRAGE, Arson Optics, MADGODS, Young Nick, Element 7D, POP Rhymes, DJ Knowledge, DJ I Wanna Be Her, DJ Kid Slyce, Bryte Blaq, The Capital Cipher, Nook, Keep It Local, Table Manners Crew, Complete Clothing, Nice Kicks, Word Power, Ploy Productions, Xanadu Studios, Square Business, Soul Sound Labs and Interscope Records.
A Wake Forest graduate Zen's music covers all sorts of topics from money, cannabis culture, religion, street life, politics, the plight of black men in America (I think Biggie coined it, "The Struggle") and even love. Believe me it's all relative and he's experienced the good, bad, ugly and the beautiful.
A resident emcee at 6th Street Records, Zen is also a member of The Cleaners production group and Fresh Hustle Entertainment.
In October 2011, Zen released his first full scale mixtape, "NOT ENOUGH (still hungry)" mixed by Scrooge McBuckz. The tape featured several original joints and many local Austin artists. The project was very well received and can be downloaded for free at datpiff.com (http://www.datpiff.com/KaiZen-NOT-ENOUGH-Still-Hungry-mixtape.275130.html)
In November 2011, Zen was selected to appear in a documentary called "FEEL RICH" powered by the legendary forty-time platinum, multi-Grammy and Emmy Award winning producer, and digital guru Quincy Jones III (QD3) along with hip-hop greats such as Phife Dog, Fat Joe, P. Diddy, Slim Thugg, Paul Wall, The Game and others. Also, the entire soundtrack as well as the title track for the documentary was produced by Scrooge McBuckz and O.C of Fresh Hustle and mixed by Bluu Suede of The Cleaners.
