Kai Altair

Often seen bellydancing barefoot on stage backed by electronics, guitars, and hand drums, Kai Altair mesmerizes audiences with an ethereal voice and captivating lyrics. Influenced by dance culture, myth, and storytelling, Kai is classically trained songwriter, with an ear for blending synths, tribal rhythms, and futuristic beats. Her heartfelt, mysterious music leads us happily into temptation, while exuding the strength of femininity.

Since launching her solo career last year, Kai Altair has become one of New York City's most sought after new performers. Bursting onto the Brooklyn music scene with her debut EP Star of The Sea, Kai quickly fell into a rhythm of constant creation. A lover of collaboration, Kai's creative visions often involve a collective of rising stars from the dance, circus, and costume worlds. Last year, in addition to a packed performance schedule in venues and parties across the city, Kai wrote two songs for the award-winning feature film Exposed, and was asked to star in the faerie-tale circus musical, "The Wonderneath," sponsored by Swarovski Crystal.

Hailed by CBS News as a "modern day mermaid," Kai is also the creatrix of "Mermaid Lagoon,” an annual benefit show for The Waterkeeper Alliance, and the world oceans. Currently writing new songs for recording and performance, Kai's latest release is "Shine," written for the sultry, magical short film The Hidden Sister. Along with live performances in New York City, her eye catching music videos and live webcasts have been spanning the 7 seas via online communities, and sparking a devoted international fan base. With her hypnotic music calling out fans from Norway to Egypt, California to the UK, Kai is weaving a spell that few can resist.
