"At the Kala Academy show on April 29th, Juliet Annerino driving the crowd wild..." - Times of India - "Weekender"
Back to Pasionaria time
Music, she has it in her skin: she sings from the age of twelve. Femme fatale with a spellbinding charm, singer, composer, musician, performer, and politically engaged, Juliet Annerino, with her hair color of night, is almost everything a woman dreams to be.
Her voice went first all around the subway stations of Chicago, where she learned to sing in front of the crowd. And she grew up learning jazz next to the major famous New York jazz performers. She played in theaters and clubs of San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Her world tour included not only European cities as Amsterdam and Paris, but also cities in Asia and the Middle East as the Indian Goa, Cairo and Beirut.
The power of art.
The multi-talented artist is first a very eccentric. Existentialist, born nihilist, Annerino is a fierce campaigner for the cause of Ron Paul, a Republican supporter of libertarian, representative of the Texas House of Representatives and candidate for the American presidential election of 2008. To this man she admires, Annerino created a pin-ups calendar called "Hotties for Ron Paul," a controversial work that the press did not necessarily appreciated. Thus, her name appeared in the first pages of L.A. Times, U.S. News and World Report. Indeed, with each photo of the sexy top models of the calendar, Juliet displayed a quote from his political idol and a second of another politician on the same subject. "Me, as an artist, I believe in the power of art. In this work, I think the beauty of the photos and the poetry of the text affect the people, question and intrigue him. From an historical point of view, I believe that art has created major changes not only on individuals, but also at the level of civilizations. Art can transform a whole system of belief."
In Los Angeles, she created her cabaret-trailer, Société Noire. The team was composed of talented artists: a magician, a poet and musicians; they all have the same passion for the Jazz. For four years, Société Noire was performed in five different areas. Annerinio then launched "The Lord's Lover" in Hollywood, a multimedia cabaret show; she wrote, directed and even produced. Seven short musical vignettes combing humor, psychology, philosophy and politics, to be mixed with the monologue songs of two lovers. The show who was warmly received, figures on the list of the Off-Broadway Festival in New York.
In June 2007, Juliet started her tour in Amsterdam, then Paris with a group of French and Dutch musicians she qualifies by "wonderful": Michael Rørbye, Andy Valkenburg and Michiel Olodeon. The tour aimed to promote her album "Crushed Velvet".
Having recently finished recording and mastering her new album "Scenes from a life on fire", produced by Matahari music, Juliet arrived in Beirut, for the instigation of New Horizon, to meet with the Lebanese public and sing with her musicians "I love working with musicians from the city in which I sing. It adds a lot of authenticity to the performance."
They compare her music to those of big stars as Josephine Baker, Sarah Vaughan and Edith Piaf. She says smiling, "If you want to know me, just listen to my music."
Combining jazz, operatic singing, funk and even techno, Juliet offers a musical mix of all colors. Having led the Snatch at Gemmayzé, June 30, she will perform during the festival of Jounieh, July 5. A performance not to be missed!
