A 16-year-old Long Islander has been named a final round contender in the International Songwriting Competition.
Music has been a part of Julia Graye’s life since she was six years old.
"I was like 'I want to do music' and I went home and my mom's like 'oh, do you want to, you know, start guitar lessons?' and I was like 'yeah,' and so I started at about age seven, eight. Piano, I’ve been playing since I was about six. And then I started writing songs about 10, successfully, cause I’ve been writing songs since I was like seven... but I could never get past like a verse," Julia recalls.
When she was 15, she wrote this song called “Labyrinth,” which will now compete in the final round in the International Songwriting Competition.
The contest is where amateur musicians can have their songs heard by the biggest music professionals in the industry. In the final round, “Labyrinth” will compete against 14 other songs.
A panel of unknown celebrity judges will decide which song has what it takes to place. The winners will be announced at the end of April. - Fios1 News
