Joshua Robert

I started making music in high school, about 10 years back. I played in a pop punk band called The Carsons and we had a lot more success than one would expect a high school band to have. We sold out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the House of Blues for the High School Rock Off. After that I started getting into music theory and more challenging music. I focused heavily on my voice, and it's carried me in music. I started writing more honest and straightforward songs, and stopped focusing on the hook and placing words in my songs just to make it sound catchy. What I found is that I can't help but write a catchy melody. I thought that was a bad thing for the longest time, but now I really try to embrace it. The folk revival that is happening now came at a perfect time for me, and I'm very excited to be a part of it. My music is not necessarily folk, but it has many of the elements.
