It’s a Sunday afternoon. Need something a little slower and laid back than for the rest of the week. Joshua Brandon’s Phantom of Jazz fits the bill. In a way, this track doesn’t need any sort of explanation. The title says it all. It is jazztastic. But it is dislocated. All a bit wierded out. Like jazz acid. Trippy. Rather good. - Acid Ted Blog
Who’s Joshua Brandon? Joshua Brandon is a mind traveler looking for the next adventure, a musician, psychology student, producer, musical archeologist, stage designer, always trying to create new audio/visual experiences for the audience. My roots are from the mexican desert and i’m really interested in the elevation trough psychedelic music.
How you got started in the music scene? I started over 15 years ago, playing drums, then I played punk, progressive rock and acid jazz in different projects. My first approach to electronic music was with the band Slow Motion Love in 2000. From there I started to use computers, field recordings, sampling, synthesizers and programming for design new soundscapes and introspective pieces.
What are your music influences? I’m always looking for new and different sounds from all eras. I love Early Music, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Contemporary. I hear much Jazz, Progressive Rock, Experimental, Improvisation and of course the latest trends in Electronic Music, I think everything I’ve heard has an intrinsic influence on the music that I’m producing right now. So my album is titled “Neoclassical Jazzistic Bullshit”.
