Bio
John Paul Gladwell is a highly regarded composer and producer, an innovative performing and recording artist and a respected teacher. He performed with acclaimed author/film director Bruce Wagner in a series of readings in Los Angeles, and two of his compositions appear on The Matrix: Special Edition DVD Box Set. A master of many styles of music, he has an extensive classical guitar repetoire as a solo performer. He completed his studies as a Bachelor of the Arts in music composition at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he also played guitar and cello with the New Music Ensemble. As a member of the Augusta Guitar Quartet, he premiered his composition, Geese in the Bog (based on a traditional Irish Fiddle melody) at the Moss Museum in Virginia. He toured with Transcendental Crayon Ensemble (high energy, free jazz) and with The Crawford Brothers (gospel). As a recording artist, he has played on work by pop songwriter Robbie Seidman (Belinda Carlisle, Hillman & McGuinn), and on albums by Maria Vidal and Lisa Stafford. He produced the debut EP of Virginia hard rock band Pants on Fire, and plays in the band, Dreamcar (modern rock). His song, Riverboat, can be heard each week on the acclaimed PBS series Roadtrip Nation, beginning this fall. Currently, he is working on a new collection of original instrumental music including a jazz quartet and arrangements for classical guitar.
