John Myles music is a once familiar and original, drawing on the sounds of some of our greatest songwriters and producing uniquely original songs. Winner of the "Suggested Artist Award" in the 2007 "Song of the Year Songwriting Contest"-one of the worlds premier songwriting contests- I posted a monthly winner, two finalists and three runners up in 3 genres out of 10 submissions. I am comfortable entertaining in any venue from a church picnic, to an auditorium and would make an excellent opening act for a larger folk, blues or Americana act. My music is at once accessible and exceptional. My influences run the gamut from CSNY to Dylan to Nick Drake to Hiatt, Prine and Waits. My sound is a little like James Taylor to Woody Guthrie to John Prine. My song Grapes of Wrath won one of 6 "Honorable Mentions" from the Woody Guthrie Song Writing contest in June 2009
