John's winning song is better than Don Henley hanging with JJ Cale. I have a history with Tulsa musicians myself so I proudly pick John as our Sonic Bids Song of the Month Winner for May 2008.
John will be posted at the new and revamped Tennessee Concerts page, the sponsor for this
competition, and included in Nashville Edge.

Bio
~ I started playing drums in 1956, when I was five-years-old. After spending over a month looking for a xylophone teacher, my parents begrudgingly agreed to let me take drum lessons, if I "would stick with it."
In the upstairs, backroom of a music store, a jazz and classical trumpet player took me under his wing. I "stuck with it" -- sitting next to my patient mentor for years at a half-round, antique end table -- quietly learning rudiments, riffs, rhythm, technique and style.
Over the years we whittled little bowls into that pine table, as I learned about percussive music and the importance of silence and space in songs.
In a year I "earned" a snare drum. At the end of two, a “Cocktail” set of Slingerlands: One drum, cymbal and pedal at a time!
I played in (working) bands from the time I was seven and played professionally for over thirty-five years. I’ve had the privilege of working in the studio, performing live, touring and co-writing with some of the best musicians, songwriters, producers and vocal talent in the world (See list at www.johnlatta.net).
A little over a year ago, I started to work in the studio again, writing some songs...
