The opening song of Joelle Maddyson's EP titled 'Here I Stand' is an emotionally drenched song called, "All I Know." Within a minute of the song playing you learn that Maddyson is not only a strong vocalist but also a talented musician. Her passionate vocals are complimented by a soft piano and the musical interludes only intensify the deep emotions of the song. This remains true to the remaining songs on the EP. "Say Anything" has a catchy beat that will leave you smiling while you listen to Joelle's honest lyrics. My personal favourite song off the 'Here I Stand EP' would have to be "City Lights" - the song encapsulates everything that Joelle Maddyson pours her heart and soul into - her music. The lyrics are sincere and memorable, expressing emotions that every girl can sympathize with and the acoustic feel keeps it fresh and satisfying. Here I Stand is a great EP and confirms that Joelle Maddyson is only going to keep on getting bigger and better. - Brooke Hunter and Simone Traglia Girl.com.au
"For Nashville’s own Joelle Maddyson, music and the ability to live in song seems to flow from her like a river of clarity. Her sultry vocal and piano stylings combine a sense of wonderment with every breath…it’s as if she’s playing a soundtrack to our lives. With the release of her debut album “Here I Stand” available now on itunes, I sat down with Maddyson to discuss her music, Nashville, and how she is making the planets align."

"For Nashville’s own Joelle Maddyson, music and the ability to live in song seems to flow from her like a river of clarity. Her sultry vocal and piano stylings combine a sense of wonderment with every breath. It’s as if she’s playing a soundtrack to our lives."-Denver T. Stephens, Hometown Sevier Featured Artist Series.
Her artistry has been deemed a heated mixture of sultry vulnerability and raw emotion. She is most often compared to successful artists like Sarah Mclachlan, Adele, and Emmylou Harris. Ethereal powerhouse vocals, in combination with her poignant lyrics and piano driven songwriting place her in a category all on her own.
Joelle Maddyson is a Nashville-based songwriter and pianist with awe-inspiring talent. Born in southwest Louisiana, Joelle Maddyson was singing long before she could speak. Her musical journey took off in her early teens, soon after her family relocated to California’s central valley.
Joelle received the only Command Performance award given at The Solo & Ensemble Festival in 2002, and was immediately recruited to CSU Stanislaus. She received the highest scholarship at the time for her vocal audition. She then spent three years studying both Vocal Performance and English. As it became clear that her true passion lies in songwriting, Joelle took a break from school and began performing in local venues. Within months, Joelle was touring the west coast. She was invited to play on news programs, radio stations, and was nominated three years in a row for the prestigious Modesto Area Music Association Award.
Joelle’s journey then led her to Nashville, where she was discovered by the highly esteemed Producer Billy Smiley (White Heart). She recorded her debut album with Billy Smiley and Bill Whittington. (Bill Whittington is the grammy award winning engineer who worked on many of Amy Grant's hugely successful albums.)
Since Joelle’s relocation to Nashville in 2010 she has been a featured artist on The American Songwriter website; she has won FIRST PLACE in the Indie International Songwriting competition for her single, “City Lights”; she was a Top Two finalist in the We Are Listening Singer-Songwriter Awards. She was also selected to be featured on the 2010 National Indie Grrls Compilation CD. Joelle's song "Say Anything" was chosen as the FIRST PLACE winning song in the Pop Category in The Nashville Songwriter's Festival Challenge! Joelle is a SESAC member and the head of Maddyson Music Publishing. With over 100,000 views on her youtube channel, Joelle continues her dedication to fearlessly personal songwriting.
