This homegrown production reveals a wide-ranging repertory of folk and folk/country blues from Peg Leg Howell and Willie McTell and spirited instrumentals with plenty of intricate fingerpicking alongside self-penned gems like "Can't Stop the Pictures" and "old stuff" like "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie." A pair of vintage Eric Von Schmidt covers are my favorites. - GvonT - Sing Out! magazine

Bio
A product of the 60's blues and folk revival, started playing guitar in 1963, met Son House in 1968, an experience that changed my musical direction profoundly. Have opened for Brownie and Sonny, Spider John Koerner, Rory Block, Jack Elliot, and many other folk and blues artists. Frequently referred to as a musician's musician, admired by many jazz and classical musicians as well as folk and blues artists. Described as having a confident, commanding stage presence, aided by dazzling guitar playing, and vocal strength.
Primary guitar influences are: Brownie McGhee, Blind Blake, Rev. Gary Davis, Doc Watson, John Herald, Danny Kalb, Larry Johnson, with lots of jazz and classical players, as well. Teaches guitar and voice lessons, and produced the Building Your Voice dvd guide to Alan Greene's book, The New Voice. Now lives in NW Connecticut and appears weekly on NWCATV, Canaan, CT on self-produced show, "Guitar and Vocal".
