they really got our toes tapping and our feet dancing. The line dance instructors led ladies, gentlemen and youngsters in the art of line dancing and, as at all of our GWDC street festivals, this year there was more dancing in the streets than ever.

"MUSIC: Moving Forward -- Bayer CD set for December release"

Ideally, Joe Bayer's country music CD would be available to fans everywhere.

And ideally, we all would be tall, good-looking and witty.

"The music industry moves like snails," said the Ottawa native, who lives in suburban Long Island, N.Y., and fronts the Joe Bayer Band.

Back home for a visit last weekend, Bayer told The Times the release date of "Locked, Rocked and Loaded" — the CD his band has had finished for months — has been pushed back to December. That's a couple of months after his original expectations.

But after personnel changes at Bayer's previous record label led him to another company, he's glad "Locked, Rocked and Loaded" has a definite release date, even if it's later than he expected.

"It's been frustrating. With the shakeup, it's been like any other job — two steps forward and one step back. But you make a little progress going forward," he said.

"Locked, Rocked and Loaded" will be released by Australian label Savvy Muzik in October both Down Under and in Europe. In the United States, fans will be able to buy it in December through NWMG Records.

"They feel releasing a record during the holidays is a good thing," Bayer said.

A service technician for an oil company, the 45-year-old Bayer, took four days off to visit his father Joe, stepmother Diane and other friends and family. He was accompanied by his wife, Jennifer, and 4-year-old daughter Madison.

"We haven't been back in three years. I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in many years," he said.

Even at a young age, Madison is interested in acting. And her father, unexpectedly, is getting involved in that portion of show business.

Bayer is slated to play the lead role in "Soul Songs," an independent film with shooting due to begin in October. He was offered the part by Sevi Regis, a Long Island friend involved in the film business.

"She needed a guitar player and musician who could act a little," said Bayer, who has performed in a couple of short films through Regis, but admitted his acting pedigree is limited to "the mandatory school play" at Jefferson Elementary in Ottawa.

"It's weird to be asked to be in a lead role. I've never been in that kind of situation, but why not?" he said.

No release date has been set for "Soul Songs," but at least Bayer has one for "Locked, Rocked and Loaded." Samples are available online at myspace.com/joebayerband, and a video of the Bayer tune "Hello Sunshine Goodbye Rain" can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6tl0w3Nbxc.

Bayer's video "65 Roses" — a tune inspired by Bayer's nephew, who has cystic fibrosis — can be viewed on www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEOpY_3FfD4.

The Joe Bayer Band will be performing most of September and into early October. Bayer has done interviews with radio stations in St. Louis, Phoenix and other cities. He looks forward to "Locked, Rocked and Loaded" being released overseas.

"I'm excited to see what Europe and Australia think of us," he said.

Even if it's a few months later than expected. But a snail's pace is better than no pace at all.

"Joe Bayer – Adopted Texan with “65 Roses” song battle for Cystic Fibrosis!"

Joe Bayer fights the fight for his nephew, Jake and Cystic Fibrosis with "65 Roses"

I first fell in love with Joe Bayer, when I heard and saw the video “65 Roses.” He had that wonderful Texas Country Music sound and his purpose was clear. It was a song for his beloved nephew who has Cystic Fibrosis. Joe Bayer was born in Ottawa, Illinois. Don’t panic, we got him at an early age in his musical journey, as he lived in Houston for many years. As one speech researcher I talked with says, “You have your accent of where you’re from by age 7, so we got to Joe, just in time! He’s been hit by the Red Dirt Road muse (angel,) because his vocals and the sound is definitely there and there is no hiding it! His deep, sultry voice can bring you to the heart’s deepest spots, or rock you like you’ve never been rocked before!

He calls Houston his first real Texas Music home. That’s where he lived and picked up that good ol’ Texas heart and sound which he soon mixed with the boys out of New York – there’s not a hint of anything above the Mason/Dixon Line in any of Joe’s songs!

Touched and inspired by his nephew Jake who is suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, Joe and the band wrote and composed a special song called "65 Roses" originally released as a digital single, and I found myself crying from the pain and hope of those children suffering with this debilitating disease!

Cystic Fibrosis is a hereditary disease that affects the whole body, difficulty breathing being the most common symptom. A thick mucus forms on the digestive track and lungs causing chronic lung infections which can sometimes be fatal. People who suffer with CF have a constant excessive cough associated with shortness of breath. With no known cure at this time over 30,000 Americans, 3000 in Canada, 1 in 46 Hispanics, 1 in 65 African Americans and 1 in 90 Asians suffer worldwide but the most common gene is found in people with European Heritage. The Joe Bayer Band hopes to raise enough money to make a difference in these people’s lives. All proceeds from “65 Roses” will go towards a Cystic Fibrosis Charity.

Joe explains, “I wrote this song for my nephew Jake who has the disease he is 5. We performed at a Great Stride Walk in May and had over 2000 people in attendence . The band together with our family members in months leading up too walk raised over 4000 dollars toward CF.

The song “65 Roses” off new CD " Locked ,Rocked and Loaded" out on ITunes now has been receiving great international response . We have had airplay and interviews in Many U.S. states as well as Germany and Canada ! Some proceeds from this CD going to CF. “

Joe played throughout the Midwest and made the move to Los Angeles, California where he and his hard rock act“Devastation Run” landed a record deal with Ironworks records, who released an EP overseas. Joe and the band also attended Musicians Institute, and performed all over the West coast. Joe had his West coast career cut short when family matters brought him to New York (New York City???? No problem, he’s been possessed by the hard rocking Texas sound!) Joe had a brief stint as a guitarist in another project before stepping into the spotlight of his own band. Now, just released is his New CD “Locked, Rocked and Loaded “and is available NOW on ITunes! Again, added to my collection

With “Locked, Rocked and Loaded” the band is ready to set the country music industry on fire with their new CD with featuring artists’ cameos including Mario Staiano drummer for Savoy Brown and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend Gary U.S. Bonds.

Since he has released 2 CD’s and has had national and international radio airplay, Joe has also chalked up a couple of Indie Radio awards, performed at award shows in Nashville and Nevada. He has also had the pleasure of opening for Tim Rushlow (Little Texas). He has also become known throughout the Texas Music Scene – adopted from his misplacement in New York to his true Texas home. If you like that Traditional Country sound mixed with a New Country drive or Southern Rock the Joe Bayer Band has everything you want wrapped all in one from the hard hitting ballads to the foot stomping dance songs – Just listen to “Country Style!” off his earlier CD “Country Style.” It’s line dance heaven and you can’t stop moving to this one! And, Texas is ALL over the place in this one. Definitely, the song to get you out of the dance floor, or just on a country dirt road gathering! I love it! You can find the band on Twitter, Face Book, MySpace and Reverbnation under the Joe Bayer Band and “Country Style” CD on CD Baby.

To date the band continues performing live and gearing up for their first worldwide CD release "Locked, Rocked and Loaded.” With 2 videos out and the single "Hello Sunshine, Goodbye Rain" featuring the legendary Gary U.S. Bonds receiving international attention from fans and music industry executives , 2011 is shaping up to be a big one ! The heartfelt meanings behind them such as, the debut single "Hello Sunshine Goodbye Rain" featuring Gary U.S. Bonds, wakes you up with a smile, and keeps you rockin.” It is also being played in Australia, London and the U.S.A. It’s a hard driving hit that takes you far from the ordinary everyday existence. "I Got Love" is a rockin’-feel good song about a bad day but the love in his heart makes it always good. The beautiful song “Madison” was written about his daughter, Madison, and a father’s undying love.

I’m not leaving this article without giving you my favorite Joe Bayer songs, which so endeared me to him. His nephew has cystic fibrosis and the song “65 Roses” was written for this beloved nephew.
